The coup of February 23, 1981 in Spain, also known as 23-F, was a failed coup by some military commanders essentially, whose most famous episode was the assault on the Congress of Deputies by a large group of civil guards in command was Lt. Col. Antonio Tejero Civil Guard during the vote on the candidate for Prime Minister, Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo, of the UCD.
